Neither put Martinelli through the middle Saka andTrossy on the wings, your two clowns on the bench.

No chance of that happening

Arteta will probably persist with Havertz

Martinelli is presently worse than Havertz and Jesus. If he can't even play his wide forward role well, he has nothing to offer centrally. Jesus at least has good hold up and link-up play while that has always been a weakness of Martinelli.

Havertz

Havertz has done ok when he's played as 9 he's never going to be prolific but he does get into decent areas his goals against Brighton and Newcastle come to mind where as Jesus just doesn't have that know how in and around the penalty area. In any case he doesn't look right at the moment so wouldn't start him anyway. If he comes on it should be as a wide replacement.

Give Eddie a chance, he might hit form

Allow me to make the case for Trossard at the tip of our attack.

It all comes down to motivation.

We live in an era where even benchwarmers can command wages of £100k a week. Which means that a contract extension is really the only stick that a club can use to motivate players.

Under ideal circumstances, no player/agent/club-accountant really wants the uncertainty of running into the final 2 years of a contract.

Which brings me to our attacking players : - Saka, Havertz, Martinelli, Trossard, Nketiah, Reiss Nelson and Jesus.

It comes as no surprise that the only player on that list who has looked 100% motivated all season is Trossard.

He is the only one on that list who will be running into the final 2 years of his contract at the end of the season. He'll be 30 years old in December, which means that any contract renewal will possibly be his last chance at a big payday.

All the other lads on that list know that they could "switch off" for an entire season and still have the comfort of 3 years left on a lucrative contract.

(And yes, I'm aware of my history of moaning about playing any strikers shorter than 6 foot 2. )
