The MLS

I recently paid for a month pass for the MLS on Apple TV and was pleasantly surprised by what I watched. Due to the time zones it’s perfect for people in Australia to watch as most of the games are on from 8am - 4pm all day on Sunday so perfect for the hangover recovery period.

The quality of course isn’t great but there are some exceptions. Obviously there’s Barca 2015 meets 2024 at Inter Miami and Messi is still exceptional and really should be playing in Europe and a few other one time stars operate in it but the whole thing is a spectacle and very popular with actual die hard fans. I tried to watch the Saudi league and that’s a soulless version with empty stadiums and players that really don’t give a crap about the whole thing. At least with the MLS you can see a real attempt to make it a successful project and you even have Phil Neville as one of the managers.

It’ll never be the PL but it’s fun. Anyone else enjoying it?

Similar to Vidic, lived here 13+ years and been to one game and i think watched one game in a bar in Kansas with mates.

I do follow Inter Miami now though, watch their highlights each game but that of course is down to Messi and Suarez who are just a joy to watch and we won't get to watch them much longer.

While it is great to have them here, when Messi in particular does give it up it is going to leave a massive hole and I don't see how MLS will recover for a long time

It will b fine

Just as it was b4 Messi

Not seen any ‘breakthrough’ US stars in a while actually.

Definitely seeing more US players in Europe, so that bodes well for the national team, but not seen a STAR such as Donovan (or even Freddy Adu).

Pulisic was the last one I can think off.

Cremaschi looks very good to be fair, a genuine talent.

Apparently Messi has 16 G+A in 9 games or something - according to the Athletic it’s an MLS record through 9 games.

If Messi wins the MLS Cup & Copa America, he should win another Ballon D’or imo

Every week I am left scratching my head as to how any ever thought Ronaldo was the better player. Messi is still phenomenal and making the game look easy

What about Alphonso Davies? Canadian rather than US but came through the MLS.

Because they have very different strengths and some are swayed by Ronaldo's athletism, power and determination. I prefer Messi but I can see why some think differently.

El Traffico is also the best name for any football derby.

Ronaldo is more athletic, far better in the air, has more power. It's true I prefer Messi, but there is a comparison to make.

I honestly don't see where there is a comparison. One player literally runs the entire game having 100+ touches most weeks while the other isn't involved until the final third and in the last 5-7 years the penalty box having next to no actually impact on a teams overall performance.

I go to the odd Whitecaps game when I get free tickets. Half the times I've gotten so drunk I fall asleep and the other times I've left early cos I was sober and struggling to stay awake.
