Derby County. 5 - 0 Morecambe

DERBY COUNTY v MORECAMBE League 1 # 28

1500 Saturday 4th February 2023

Just a short thread tonight, am very busy got strikes to organise and picket lines to assemble - sorry there is another one coming up.

So, now the unbeaten run is done, perhaps we can relax a bit and start the nitty gritty bit of getting out the league. Except of course Morecambe will never play again in front of 25,000 fans which will spur them on.

So we're unbeaten in 14 league fixtures, except Morecambe are doing alright - winning four of their last five.

We know Max Bird will be out for at least 5 weeks, so we''ll just have to manage and I'll leave it to you cleverer people to tell who will step up. Harvey? Didzy is back (YAYY!!) as is Cashz (YAYY!!) along with Louie Sibbz (YAYYY!!)

As I've said Morecambe are on a good run - hopefully we can make those chances count and not be left rueing what might have been. Slowly but sure we have inexorably chasing down third spot and we just needs those above us to slip up.

Team news:- Wildsmith (GK), Forsyth, Hourihane, Cashin, Collins, McGoldrick, Mendez-Laing, Smith, Roberts, Dobbin, Knight

Subs:- McGee (GK), Barkhuizen, Thompson, Sibley, Springett, White, Davies

Its building momentum....

But very slowly. Which is, as Spart would endorse, the best way.

The key of course is in maintaining it. Tricky if you involve science and things..........

Almost painful. Looks like we've been left to it, Heb ?

Shall we leave it at 399 ?

Leeds sacking their manager 'Ted Lasso' could apparently have an interesting knock on effect.

Carlos C at WBA will no doubt be the favourite as he was Bielsa's no.2 at Leeds. I think he'd be interested in taking over the role.

Should that happen WBA could look to approach Darren Moore from Sheff Weds. I suspect one of the managers currently out of a job Dean Smith or what's his face who managed Middlesbrough might be on the list of potentials as there'd be no compensation to pay.

IF West Brom were to poach Darren Moore it'd certainly make things interesting in L1.
