Before the dust settles

Just want to say:

- Hojlberg was superb again today. He was everywhere and always uses the ball so intelligently. Signing of the season for me

- other than one shaky moment in the first half we looked solid at the back. Dier was great, credit where it’s due.

- Bale isn’t clicking, yet.

- NDombele wasn’t up for it today. He’s come a long way but where the skill is definitely there, he still has off days

- we weren’t good today, but we cannot expect to steamroll teams every week. West Brom were up for it, organised and wanted to win and stopped us playing. Respect to them. It won’t alway be pretty but we are TOP OF THE LEAGUE

Bale just consistently looks so far off the pace. Thought we looked considerably more coherent when Lucas came on. Dier and Hojbjerg were our best players - Ndombele was more wasteful than usual but still our most creative player.

We look a better shape with Lucas over bale as Lucas drops back and makes us a midfield 4 which keeps up more solid centrally.

Bale just ambles around not really helping defensively and not doing much offensively. I think we should be using him more as a impact sub than a starter right now

Yup, Bale is more lacklustre than Kane. Bale’s fitness levels aren’t of a professional top level standard

Way to early to write Bale off. He will come good. Have faith!

I’m not writing him off but currently he is closer to Ali Dia than Dele Alli

Bale is very slowly building back. It looks like he isn't confident in his body yet. Yes he will naturally be slower than first spell at Spurs but he looks way off the pace in acceleration and speed. Expect him to get it going later in the season but knowing his injury record recently this is the best approach.

Having now watched this match,
First off it was pretty disjointed crap, primarily due to WBA's tactics of tripping and pulling down and generally fouling any player that might get past them.
Even Kane's goal was scored with Livermore hanging onto his left shoulder, should have been a penalty had Kane missed.
I do not know why Premiership referees allow these tactics to go on, it does nothing but drag the game down.
If you don't like watching crap week after week start complaining to the FA.

Now to the Spurs players.
Reguilon had an outstanding match. He was by far Spurs most dangerous player going forward, and also a fine defender. Levy has to buy this guy.
Ndombele had a fine match until he got injured...again an WBA fouling play. A box load of tricks and always keeping the ball or moving on. He will become our best midfielder.
Dier played better than I've seen in a while, maybe CB is where he belongs.
Toby was a rock in defence today.
Hojbjerg is solid and clever; notably our midfield played better without Winks....but it was only playing WBA.
I'm not that impressed with Doherty, but I have to give him that in pass that allowed Kane to score, a great ball.
Bale is always a danger, and an asset on the pitch, he's going to get better.
Son missed a great early scoring chance, and was otherwise anonymous.

Well Sanchez is crap and Vertonghen is gone, so I guess Dier is learning then?
He played well against WBA.
I'm promoting a bid for Upamecano, a couple of classes above Dier, but Levy won't bite....ManU will!
