Cook is remembered fondly but he was one of the players that had as many if not more people that didnt rate him as well. Good left foot and knocked some spectacular passes but games would sometimes pass him by and had a relaxed style that many interpreted as not working too hard.

A sign of his lack of popularity with some was typified by an advert I saw in the Great Western for a meeting of his fan club. It was to be held in the phone box outside!

He was the Beckham of his day, sort of.
