W.Midlands Manager of the Season...

......so far!

Nominations:

Dean Smith, Walsall: Vote 1

On a shoe-string budget Smith has Walsall playing attractive football and occupying a play-off place. Could he lead them to the second tier for the first time in a decade?

Steven Pressley, Coventry City: Vote 2

Administration, no ground, no fans (at β€œhome") and a ten point deduction and yet Pressley has them playing attractive football and would have them in the play-offs without the missing ten points.

Lee Clark, Birmingham City: Vote 3

An owner in prison, no money and a squad made up of frees, kids and loans. Relegation could be a realistic expectation and yet Leek Lark has Blues almost as close to the play-offs as the bottom three.

Kenny Jackett, Wolves: Vote 4

Back to back relegations have brought Wolves to their lowest position since 1988/89. Jackett has not only stopped the rot but has them looking up rather than down for the first time in years.

Paul Lambert, Villa: Vote 5

Only goal difference keeps Villa out of the top half of the table while this time last year they sat a point from the relegation zone.

So cast your votes now - who has done the best job for their club so far this season?
Try not to be too partisan if you can, my vote would probably go to Smith for his excellent work with Walsall

I like the fact this is a competition with a free vote, whilst being limited in candidates.

Not having Mick included is almost racist, (just because Suffolk is "outside the West Midlands", and clearly intended to antagonise those that see him as one of the best ever Wolves managers...

Step 1: Click “Create JA606”
Step 2: Select the teams and competition the thread is relevant to.
Step 3: Give the thread a title “East Anglia Manager of the Season” would be my suggestion
Step 4: Write some rot.
Step 5: Invite people to vote.

Hope that helps

Vote 2

Got to be Steven Pressley, Coventry City considering he started on minus 10 points.
They look very much like making the play-offs with no budget and no ground.

Dean Smith gets my vote for making players believe in themselves after being given very little to work with.

I think this article just highlights how shít west midlands football is right now.

I actually think given his resources and problems at the club, lambert is doing as much as could be expected. his only reasonable target must be to avoid relegation and he has villa battling around mid table right now. I'll be overjoyed if wolves are in that position at any point in the next 5 years.

as DJ said, KJ is doing ok but should have wolves in no worse a position - and you could argue that his random selections and shuffling of the front line during the December bad patch has actually seen us fall out of the auto places which we should rightly be in. this January window will be the true test for jacket though. he has to get the forwards right and if he manages it I think we'll kick on and get back to the top two. if he doesn't then the lottery of the play-offs could decide his and our future.

Pressley & Smith doing good jobs, probably better than Jackett under the circs.

Rob Smith at Hednesford gets my vote, could be on for back to back promotions

Pepe Le Pew's turned up at Sandwell with his battered suitcase and leg of Jamon Serrano in the overhead locker of Ryanair, having "done ok" at Betis, who BTW aren't even the biggest or best club in Sevilla.
A mountain village full of peasants,so he should feel right at home, famous for its oranges!
