Port Vale v Bolton Wanderers

Match day and first of 3 fixtures before the international break. After a great start where Bolton won their first 3, just 5 points from the last 5 has seen a drop to 7th and a gap of 4 points to 3rd. A great chance to close the gap or lose more ground. First up port vale away who have had a great start and are 4th. A win for Bolton and they will go above port vale and get back in the top 6. A good fixture for Bolton. Haven't lost at vale park since 1988. In fact Bolton have only lost once in 20 against vale that mad 3-6 at the unibol in lockdown. Team news. Quite a long list of absences. Johnston out for the season. Santos, Coleman, Maghoma, Mendes Gomes out until after the international break. The availablity of Dacres-cogley is unknown at the moment. Suspensions. Jones misses the next 3, Thomason sits out today but will be available for the next 2. B team players Hutchinson, Matheson, Khumbeni and inwood continue to cover for the injured players. One bit of good news Ashworth is now fit. Likely starting 11. Baxter. Forrester Toal Iredale. Williams Dempsey (captain) Morley Sheehan Ashworth. Adeboyejo Charles. Kick off 3pm.

Sam Hird is off to pasture new.

Can we finally get a coach in to teach the players what to do in the final third of the pitch. One who could also offer lessons in the art of scoring a goal.

If Dion Charles was a clinical striker he would be playing in the Premiership. Will he ever become that player who knocks them in for fun? He could be but he needs a coach that can do it himself, who can coach him properly on an ongoing basis.

That is what is missing in our coaching set-up, it's about time it was addressed. Is it a case of money or does Evatt think that we have the right people to do the job? If he does, there isn't any sign of progress.

Looking forward to Tuesday night against Stevenage, I am feeling a little bit more confident. The only fly in the ointment is the run of games with the limited squad that we are having to cope with at present.

Wrapped in cotton wool we'll look like Michelin men in training today.
Who'll get a puncture and miss the game tomorrow night.

Don't tempt fate Pasty. we have one coming back from suspension but the last thing we need is to lose someone else to a training ground injury.

I hope they remember to move all those cones that they place around the pitch. Perhaps they should send some members of the squad to spec-savers.
